Summer Winds

Well, it is fully summer, here in the Bitterroot Valley in western Montana. I've been working to complete my recording studio. At the same time, I am working on a mix of both acoustic-based songs, as well as "electrified' tunes.

One of the things that is becoming clear by validation through experience is that 'keeping it simple' is the key to gain the ear of potential fans. Yeah, great skill and great playing attract the attention. But, what do we tend to remember long after the notes fade away? We remember the simple hooks and melodies, the lead riffs, things that tend to be somewhat 'simple' and un-cluttered. So, I'm trying to keep my recordings very simple. It is the melodic progressions, the precussion, the content. Otherwise, it's noise. The message is lost in the complex, while the message is clarion in the simple.

Well, that's how I am thinking, at this point.
