Interview with John Heinrich, instrumentalist on the show
Judy: John this past Sunday you performed a variety of instruments on the TG SHEPPARD and LORRIE MORGAN show at Harrah's Casino, in Cherokee, NC. is that correct?
John: Yes it was my privilege to play sax, flute and clarinet as a member of the stellar band that did the music for the show.
Judy: So how was the show from your prespective?
John: It was one of the most organized shows that I have ever played on, and it really showed their talents and professionalism.
Judy: How do you feel about the Artists themselves and this performance?
John: I feel that TG SHEPPARD and LORRIE MORGAN are both extremely talented artists in their own right, and with both of them performing together made for an exciting show!
Judy: Tell me about the actual show.
John: TG started the show with some of his known hit songs, and ended up WOWING the crowd once again with his songs from his big band cd project "TIMELESS", LORRIE MORGAN came on stage and started her set with her hit song "WATCH ME." LORRIE and TG finished the show with this great song on TG's new double cd/dvd. The song "YOU MAY BE THE NEXT ONE."
Judy: How did the audience respond to this song John?
John: Well they deserved and got a standing ovation, even members of the musical ensemble wanted to applaud. It was a great ending.
Judy: Now, tell me about the musicianship of the band on stage of which you were a part of?
John: TG had on stage with him his wonderful band, and LORRIE had accompaning her, her keyboard player which meant two keyboards, drums, guitar, bass, and of course this incrediable Horn section. I was on tenor sax, clarinet, and flute, add to that baritone sax, trombone, baritone clarinet, and 2 trumpets.
Judy: Sounds like a full horn section, was there anyone amongst the players of known recognition?
John; Yes, the horn section was led by WAYNE JACKSON, trumpet player and leader of THE MEMPHIS HORNS. Wayne most recently was inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame for his many many albums and his tenure with THE MEMPHIS HORNS, and honor justly deserved. Wayne is also known for his group who were real well known in the 60's THE MARKEES.
Judy: Seems to me, that with TG, LORRIE and this awesome group of musicianship the show was GREAT! So how about a little tip, have you performed with these artists before, and would you again?
John: The answer to this question is Yes on both counts, but also I have been lucky enough to have performed with them live and also in the studio on sessions here in Nashville.
Judy: Tell me a little more about your knowing these great artists.
John: Well, with Lorrie Morgan, I was hired to do flute on her "SOMETHING IN RED ALBUM", which was shot at the RYMAN AUDITORIUM. With TG I have been on stage with him live over the past two years, and really enjoy being a part of his group. In the studio, TG has given me the honor of playing on his "TIMELESS ALBUM" produced by Tom McBee, my buddy Wayne Jackson was also on this cd and on TG's latest cd, 19 Nashville Friends.
Judy: What is the latest CD?...tell me about that....
John: TG Sheppard has put together one of the best double cd/dvd's on the market and a history maker too!. Lorrie Morgan and Wayne Jackson are also on this project . It is titled 19 Nashville Friends and can be found at www.19nashvillefriends.com. TG, LORRIE, RICKY SKAGGS, RAY STEVENS, THE OAK RIDGE BOYS, DELBERT MCCLINTON, MICKEY GILLEY, JUICE NEWTON, BJ THOMAS are just a few of the Artist on this project, I played sax on the TG SHEPPARD duet with LORRIE MORGAN, and dobro on THE OAK RIDGE BOYS "DOWN ON MY KNEES". The whole recording was produced and directed at FOOL ON THE HILL RECORDING STUDIO in BERRY HILL. by world famous DENNY DIANTE. I must also give Kuddo's here to KELLY LANG, TG's beautiful wife, who wrote or cowrote almost all of the songs. She too is a stellar performer in her own right, but MAN WHAT A WRITER! The video of which I am also on, has laughter, stories, tears and emotions and all the great clips of the recording.
Judy: John I think I know about this project, but tell the readers how do we purchase this cd/dvd you are talking about
John: That one is easy! Just go to www.19nashvillefriends.com and order it. It is my true feelings here that this project is a HISTORY MAKER and everyone should have a copy in their Music Library, I do!
